It’ll be 182 days since Southside Jamaica Queen’s very own DeVaun “Unique” Lee last stepped in to the squared circle, everyday counted for a fighter who is hungry for the taste of victory again. Things have changed surely within that time but the focus is there, better than before, the thirst has not been quenched just yet, DeVaun Lee is making the official move 8lbs north of middleweight to take on the battle tested Brandon Robinson.

Robinson who is signed by Marshall Kaufman’s Kings Promotions is a 12-2 with 9KO boxer from the outskirts of the fighting city of Philadelphia, it is not brotherly love he will be looking for May 10th in his hometown, but redemption from a stoppage loss two fights ago. Lee is in a similar predicament, after a questionable decision loss to Vaughn Alexander; he joined The Contender series and put on one of the best…

Danny Gonzalez VS Chris Algieri for WBO Intercontinental Title

Danny "El Gallo" Gonzalez

dgwbo

“Gonzalez, a young and rising star who has made a name for himself at the Paramount in Huntington, LI, in Star Boxing’s Rockin’ Fights series, captured the ABO Intercontinental Championship in September 2018, with a unanimous decision over JOHNNY “HITMAN” HERNANDEZ in an epic battle. The fight was a war of attrition and Gonzalez earned his championship in a bout which proved both his fighting heart and talent. Now the spotlight is much greater as he challenges former World Champion Algieri for the WBO International Strap.

Not only is a possible world title shot on the line in this bout but bragging rights in the Star Boxing stable are being contested. This is a fight where both fighters will be calling on all their will and skill and it should be a crowd pleasing slam-bang affair from bell-to-bell.” – Boxing Insider

DvChYZeXcAAjprr (1)The sport of boxing is one that has a worldwide reach, however the community in boxing is small, and because of that there are times where a friend or mentor can be the roadblock to fame, money, glory, and a world title opportunity. Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing promotional company has built up a few fighters in the past few years that have transcended the realm of local fame and have made an impact on the world stage. Huntington Long Island’s Chris Algieri is still considered to be the star of Star Boxing; as the focus turned to the always hot junior welterweight division, it was Algieri who lead the charge as an undefeated 19-0 contender looking for a title shot. Defining his career by defeating “The Siberian Rocky” Ruslan Provodnikov for the WBO title in 2014 at the Barclays Center, Algieri turned out a gutsy come from behind performance to…

Young All Star

On the under card of The Contender finale shown live on both Twitter and EPIX, DeVaun “Unique” Lee (10-4-1 5KO’s) opened the show against the vastly experienced fringe contender Tyrone Brunson (26-7-2 24KO’s) of Philadelphia, PA. The bout started in Lee’s favor as he was able to outbox Brunson in the opening round of the 6 round fight, using his reach to keep the older Brunson at bay at a slow pace. The bout picked up a bit as Brunson started letting his hands go a bit more as he searched for a place to land his vaunted right hand that has erased the consciousnesses of 24 previous fighters. Lee was smart, he kept a tight guard and didn’t allow himself to open too much to allow any counters in, Brunson was also careful and the two traded in close range but never made it ugly. In the middle rounds…
